- Close observation of all tooth surfaces, even those that aren’t seen every day. At the start of your routine checkup, we may obtain a set of x-ray images to view during your comprehensive examination. Our visual checkup observes the crown portion of all teeth, and also the gums, but x-rays provide us with invaluable information regarding periodontal health. These images show us root structure as well as bone and enable us to monitor health over time.
- Habit-checking. Did you know that your dental exam may reveal details even you do not know? When we observe the structure of teeth, we may notice excessive wear that indicates you have been clenching your jaw or grinding your teeth. Checkups also alert us (and you) to common mistakes that may be occurring during home care, such as brushing too hard or forgetting to floss.
